Profile:

Maria Mercati is an authoritative and innovative teacher and author in the field of Acupuncture and Oriental massage. She has been studying, teaching and practising Chinese Medicine for over 30 years to provide treatment and training to the highest possible standards.

Since 1992, she has studied acupuncture in China multiple times at each of the TCM hospitals in Shanghai, Weihai, Beijing, Xian, Xianyang, Jinan and Hangzhou.

She is an expert in planning courses, developing practical and theoretical syllabuses and designing examinations. Students from all over the world have benefited from her individualized and highly effective training style. She is committed to furthering the training standards for acupuncturists and student educational development. In 1996 she was nominated for an award for her teaching of Chinese Medicine by the European Union of Women.

Maria is an internationally published author of 'Abdominal & Navel Acupuncture', three bestselling massage books on 'Tui Na for adults', 'Paediatric Tui Na' and 'Thai massage'.

In 1995, she established a register of practitioners of Traditional acupuncture and acupressure which has become Acupuncture- Acutherapy Council (AcuC).

Maria was an active member of both the Acupuncture stakeholder's group and the Microsystems Acupuncture Regulatory Working Group.

Maria is a Profession Specific Board Member for Complementary Natural Healthcare Council - CNHC advising on Microsystems Acupuncture.
